The Rural Futures Initiative recognizes the importance of the creating, mobilizing, and disseminating rural-based knowledge and the benefit it provides to millions of people across the province of Ontario and beyond. The Initiative was created to support the University of Guelph’s commitment to facilitating the spread of research and knowledge to support rural communities. Rural Futures is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs (OMAFRA), through the Ontario Agri-Food Innovation Alliance.
Our mission is to ensure that the experiences and knowledge generated at the University of Guelph, and by our rural-based partners across Ontario, are translated and mobilized to best meet the needs of rural actors across the province. Through this process, we intend to connect rural actors to ongoing events, projects and researchers to help facilitate the co-creation of rural knowledge, making a more sustainable and resilient Ontario.
This website has been created to act as a pathfinder website for rural-based stakeholders across the province of Ontario to connect with rural researchers, organizations, and projects to facilitate the creation of rural knowledge.
